Hong Kong Prize
Hong Kong Prize | The Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Prize is designed to reward outstanding scientists whose significant scientific research achievements have been transformed into practical applications, serving the local community and contributing to the country. It focuses on five fields: artificial intelligence and robotics, life and health, new materials and energy, advanced manufacturing and FinTech. Each award category has its own final judging panel which selects the winner from the shortlist.
The Prize is hosted by Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation (HKAIT) with support from the Government. The HKAIT Board is the highest decision-making body of THE PRIZE and responsible for its overall management. The Board sets and interprets the articles of THE PRIZE Charter, suggests important scientific research fields to be awarded and provides guidance on the application process. It also establishes and chairs the Review Committee, Compliance Oversight Team and other relevant teams. The Board is also in charge of ensuring that the reviews are conducted in a transparent and objective manner.
The Prize is open to students of primary and secondary schools in the city, and they are encouraged to learn about the history and culture of Hong Kong through their research. They are required to submit a written report on their study theme. The winning entries are selected for their relevance to the topic, systematic use of collected information and data, objectivity in analysis and citation of literature. In addition to the main prizes, the competition awards prizes for the best teachers and students who have made outstanding contributions to the work of the prize. This year, the prize has received a record number of entries.
